We had the most wonderful time at Tiwi. If you are looking for a charming, private place to relax and really forget about everything, you found the right place.
Mike really knows everything and everyone on the south coast. We enjoyed massages, went diving, spent the days at the incredibly beautiful private pool.
And what shall I say about the Chef, Francis.
He is such a treasure, personally and professionally. Don’t miss the absolute delicious food he’ll serve you.
Everything was super uncomplicated, we didn’t have to do anything but tell him our wishes for the meals and he always exceeded our expectations!

We spent a beautiful long weekend at Tiwi Beach as a group of four. The Ocean Villa is enormous and we had plenty of space.
The villa is beautiful with traditional Swahili and Kenyan decor. The pool(s) are great if a little warm, rather than refreshing.
Martin the chef and Dorothy the housekeeper were fantastic hosts.
The food was great and we didn’t have to lift a finger. Make sure you get Saeed to take you to see the starfish - fabulous!

We had an adventure in Mombasa. We had a series of stressful things happen from the moment we landed.
One of the highlights was Austin's aussie accent checking in with us from time to time to make sure we were okay.
By the time we got to the Airbnb we were tuckered out sana. Austin had our chef take care of us nicely and tuck us in.
I wish we could've enjoyed our stay more so but the trip itself didn't allow. Great host.

Wonderfully quiet place in the middle of the jungle and on the cliffs of Tiwi. We felt very comfortable in the honeymoon tent,
surrounded by a lot of greenery and with the monkeys as neighbors.
The private rock pool on the cliffs is a short walk through the garden. Access to 2 beaches is possible via the neighboring resort.
A real plus is the private chef Francis, who you can book.
A very warm, fun person who responds very well to the needs of his guests. Really highly recommend!!!!
For wine lovers, in Diani there is a well-stocked shop or you can just let Sabine choose.
We also enjoyed the low tide walk with Said to Stardish Island and to the rock pools, where you can swim, snorkel and swim in caves.
Be sure to do it when on site!

A very special place. After a short walk through the spacious complex, you are from the tent by the private pool with a gigantic view.

We had a great stay in Tiwi, and Mike and Sabine are lovely hosts - they were very helpful all along and very welcoming with us.
The tent is located in a lush forest, with the amazing cliff pool close by (please note the tent is unfortunately not right next to the pool :) ),
and a private access to a superb beach a few meters away.
We hired Francis as a cook and, as others have mentioned, it was one of the highlights of our trip - his food was delicious.
He will get fresh seafood for you, everything else though needs to be purchased from the supermarket
(including the most basic supplies like salt, sugar, tea, coffee or even bath soap,
which we feel could have been included) - but Francis can help with that as well on the way from the airport, as he did with us. Overall, a lovely stay!

We loved our stay in the honeymoon tent! The location is totally remote, away from the noice and hustle of the city.
You are totally immersed in the nature, with monkeys, birds, and lizards (all friendly) all around. Waking up & going to be bed with the voices of jungle was very cool.
The best part for us was the plunge pool that was approximately 100m from the house, overseeing the ocean.
You can’t beat the view from there.
We also loved swimming in the private beach, it is one of the best / most beautiful beaches we’ve ever been to.
Another highlight was Chef Francis, who cooked us delicious meals, including lots of fresh fish.
He is such a kind man & talented chef, we would highly recommend hiring him.

Our stay at Mike and Sabine's Tiwi Beach cottage was incredible.
The tent, nestled amidst tropical plants and trees, was both amazing and rustic, beautifully decorated to blend comfort with nature.

Is the perfect place for total relaxation. It offers an astonishing ocean views and is a very private place,
the decorations and the furnitures are of excellent choice and make this place unique.
Mike and Sabine are very nice and knowledgeable about the area, their chef Francis spoiled us with his excellent meals and friendly service.
On the beach you can meet a few locals that are not pushy at all and will show you the beauty of the place if you feel like it.
If you love animals you will get the possibility to observe and interact with squirrels, monkeys (including Colobus), bush babies and many more.

There are no words to describe the beauty of this place. It has become very special to us, its peace and tranquility is unmatched.
It is so good, we came back to visit the day after we checked out as our new location just didn't compare (and it was a 5* star resort).
What made this all the more special was Francis’s cooking (10/10 every time) and Mike and Sabine’s pure spirited hospitality.
It was the right balance of privacy and getting to know them.
They also housed us without a moments thought when we were stranded for a night due to protests in the local area, making it unsafe to travel back to our resort.
They’re just great human beings in a beautiful environment which they allow others to share in their paradise.
I could write about our experience and Mike and Sabine’s hospitality forever, but in short,

Mike and Sabine's place was wonderful, and I'd recommend anyone looking to experience the Kenyan coast to stay here.
The lodgings were excellent - plenty of space to admire the lush surroundings and fantastic wildlife, while also feeling secluded and comfortable. Francis,
the chef, was there to help shop for groceries as soon as we landed and provided great meals (better than some of the restaurants in Diani!).

The place we stayed was straight out of a fairy tale. The views from the plunge pool made it hard to go anywhere else.

Our stay at Mike and Sabine’s was simply wonderful. The pool overlooking the ocean is so peaceful and on the property we had our
little private „safari“ with small monkeys (some a bit cheeky, watch out for your breakfast bananas ;-) ), cute squirrels and a group of
lizards enjoying the relative humidity at the pond. In the tent you are surrounded by beautiful nature and it is your personal jungle experience.
We also had Saidi take us to starfish island and the natural rockpools, where we even saw lion fish while snorkeling (bring some water,
its not far, but the sun is intense). And then there is Francis, what a gem, he cooked us fresh seafood everyday and made us feel like royalty.
Mike made us feel at home, he is a great host. He helped us with everything and we had very pleasant chats in the garden while drinking
some tasty wine - we are going home with tons of great new jokes, stories and movie recommendations. A heavenly stay on a beautiful property.

We would like to go on vacation with Sabine and Mile anytime! The location is indescribably beautiful, very private, great private private pool
above the cliffs, access to the beach that mom has to yourself, via neighboring hotel simply fabulous food, which Francis freshly prepared according
to individual wishes! All in all, a unique accommodation in an amazing landscape with nice and helpful hosts! P.S. As you can see from the photos and description,
you live in the middle of the great outdoors, which you share with nice other strawberries. Insect phobia tends to be out of place.

This is the most impressive Airbnb we have ever stayed, not hyperbole, it’s amazing! The house is a work of art, built in the Lamu style, it’s very
open with plenty of room to spread out. Very clean throughout with comfy beds and clean premium linens. The villa has a beautiful unobstructed view
of the ocean and is only feet from oceans edge so one easily hear the surf throughout the stay. Mike, Sabine, Dorthy, and chef Celestine go out of
their way to ensure everything is perfect for your stay and no want unanswered. The chef prepared delicious meals and had a wide range of meals she could prepare.
Also, for those concerned, we had zero gastrointestinal issues during our stay as the chef was extremely hygienic. On safety, the combination of the
unique geography and the security-guard patrolled compound made us feel very safe during our stay. Access to the beach, Star Fish Island, and
tidal pools is super easy via foot. Thanks Mike for an amazing family experience! We will be back!

We had a lovely beach holiday at Mike & Sabine's house. After having visited Diani and Watamu a few times, it was our first time in Tiwi...what a find!
The villa has four very spacious bedrooms, and ample space to sit and lounge, with a large and clean pool (where our kids spent hours!).
It is within walking distance to the peaceful beach away from the typical "beach boys" you come across in Diani/Watamu.
We found it to be very pleasant. Mike and Sabine were always responsive, before and during our stay. They arranged a shopping for us prior to our arrival,
which was super convenient as the shops are far away. We had issues with the internet, but Mike and Sabine tried to address it as much as they could.
The staff at the house were always kind and helpful in preparing delicious meals, organizing seafood orders, arranging a guide to take us on
excursions (e.g. gorgeous Africa and Australia rock pools), etc. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Amongst the best places I have stayed in all of my travels. Aussie and Sabine were extremely welcoming and had everything we needed for
a more than comfortable stay. If you are visiting Kenya and have other places to travel and sites to see around Kenya,
I highly recommend talking to Aussie and Sabine before booking anything as they have a lot of years here and great guidance on when,

Beautiful location on Kenya’s coast. You definitely want to have one of the personal chefs while you’re there.
That’s coming from someone who basically never travels with things like a private chef or tour guide of any sort.
It helps provide local employment and they will assist you in getting seafood, etc.
Some of our highlights were watching the monkeys play, lounging in the pool and a couple local walking trips with Said.
Don’t expect to walk freely down a long stretch of beach, because it isn’t that type of spot.
There is a small, pretty beach to access just outside the gate at the hotel next door.
It’s good for swimming at high tide and not busy at all.
If you want to explore the area you’ll need a local guide like Said, once again promoting local employment and learning some cool things about the area abs wildlife.
It’s a smart idea to let Mike and Sabine hook you up with a driver to guide you to their place.

TThe place is absolutely beautiful, you feel like you are in a private paradise :) One of the best things was Francis - the chef.
We recommend hiring him. He was incredible, always available for anything we needed and the food was excellent.
The trip to the rock pools with Said was also incredible, he knew a lot about the area and was very friendly.
A few small details that we would have changed were: 1st the property was undergoing some renovations which is fine but we would have appreciated being told in advance;
2nd the lighting inside the tent is not very good, which is understandable but we had to use our phones to see better;
3rd the shower pressure and amount of hot water is very reduced -
again, normal for this type of location but for the price charged we felt it could be a little better.

WWe had a wonderful few days at Sabine and Mike's place.
The location and property are beautiful and if you have the opportunity you should definitely spend 2-3 days completely here.
Sabine organized us a very wonderful walking tour of Starfish Island. We have seen as many beautiful starfish as never before.
In addition, the guide took us on foot to a natural pool with two very impressive caves.
The trip and especially the guide is absolutely amazing, you should not miss it. Another, very well-maintained advice is to book your personal chef Francis.
He is a perfect chef, super friendly man and knows exactly what time is needed. It gives you complete privacy,
so you can eat by the private pool with beautiful views and enjoy the day, as well as watch the many lovely monkeys.

As we stayed in a rather rainy season, there are some bugs around, however mosquito coils and nettings and bugspray are sufficiently prepared by the host.

The tent we stayed in was lovely. I’m always a bit apprehensive about tents but I have no complaints whatsoever.

The chef Francis is also fantastic, extremely friendly and will literally cook up a feast if you go shopping with him.
The monkey show in the garden has to be seen, the amount of wildlife on your doorstep here just can’t be viewed from pictures.

It was the absolute highlight of our wonderful vacation. Our safari at Southern Cross Safaris' Satao Camp was incredible.
Very private as you are on safari with a guide in your own car without other travelers and convenient as you are picked up and dropped off at your accommodation.
The drive to the camp is already an experience, as you can see a lot of Kenya. Our guide was always knowledgeable, professional and incredibly nice.
The animal world and the camp as well as the impressions we were able to collect there are lastingly imprinted in our memory.
It is a beautiful and almost unreal place. We would do it again any time. Mike and Sabine are very friendly and exciting people who
like to invite you to a glass of wine and one or the other interesting story. We really enjoyed their hospitality and wine with them.
The on-site employees are very friendly and tried hard. We recommend the cook service, as it simply sweetens the holiday.

Exquisitely situated in between the beautiful Diani Beach and Mombasa, this secluded place inside the reefs of the indian ocean, is just harmony.
Take a morning walk down the property to the ocean pool, accompanied by the blue balled monkeys roaming the estate,
and you will be met with a beautiful view of the tide moving up and down the shore inside the reef.
The tent is located under thick treetops which keep the temperature down.
Even with 30-35 °C during the day you could always sneak back to the porch of the tent to cool off a little.
We got taken good care of by chef Francis, a lovely man and a true professional.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner varied with Kenyan local dishes, fresh seafood and fruit platters of Mandarin Oriental quality.
Coming back from our safari we knew that the tent was rented out for our last night but wanting to go back to Tiwi,
we took a chance and asked Mike and Sabine about it.
They gladly helped us move in to the ocean villa, which is basically a masterpiece filled but beautiful furniture, for the same charge of the tent.
Should give that trick a try next time too. Mike and Sabine aren't just charismatic but also a very friendly couple.
We felt very welcomed and wouldn't hesitate to visit their estate at Tiwi Beach again. PS.
Don't forget to bring reef shoes as you might stumble upon a couple of sea urchins.

I would travel to Kenya for the sole purpose of staying at Mike and Sabine's place.
It was simply fantastic and a true oasis. Easily the top AirBnb property that we have ever stayed at.
We spent a day in Diani and question why anyone would ever depart the Tiwi property.
The purpose and care they have put into developing the property shows in every imaginable way.
I would highly encourage anyone staying there to do the private chef option as Francis created the best food we had in Kenya.
It is best to show up with a fully stocked larder as you won't want to leave the property once you get there.
If you are at all debating on places to stay near Diani PLEASE do not go further than Tiwi. You will not regret it.

We had a truly wonderful stay at the honeymoon tent. Mike & Sabine are excellent hosts and were very prompt and clear
with their communication and so helpful Eg in arranging transfers from the airport or groceries during our stay.
Jecintah took great care of us during our stay and was always on hand to help with anything we needed
and ensuring our meals were ready on time.
Finally the private cliff top pool is just as stunning as it looks on the pics.

All the other reviews and comments do not lie, the nature around is stunning, the interior so tasteful and the pool amazing.

We enjoyed our stay at the honeymoon tent so much!
Sabine and Mike are great hosts and we felt very welcome right from the start (Thanks for the chicken adobo again, Mike.
The tent is very clean and feels very spacious with a big patio.
It is surrounded by vegetation, but you still get to hear the ocean during the night.
We especially liked its furniture and the open architecture.
Our favorite place, as others already wrote, was the little hut right next to the small pool and only a few steps from the ocean.
Being able to enjoy the sun, the ocean and the wonderful food (prepared by Chef Andi) was just perfect!
Speaking of Andi, we strongly recommend booking him!
He is a genuinely nice guy, takes care of everything you could possibly wish for and is a magician in the kitchen.
Try the seafood, it is the best we ever had!
The estate in general is very peaceful and you won't be bothered by anyone.
We always felt very safe. For us it was the perfect place to unwind and relax a bit during our stay in Kenya.

This place is such a lovely and peaceful hidden gem, a real piece of paradise.
Everything was perfect from check-in to the services provided and available amenities,

The communication with Sabine was very smooth/friendly and she took the time to chit-chat a bit and gave recommendations.
Our chef was Ande....he was fantastic.
He did everything we asked and also gave us lots of insight about the city and the country in general -

There were plenty of chill out outdoor and indoor spaces. Lovely pool.
There were 3 lovely staff looking after us, keeping the place clean and preparing delicious meals.
I was hoping there would be AC but while there I realized that it wasn't necessary,
the house location and design allow the sea breeze to circulate, so it was just nice and cool.
Mike and Sabine are lovely host. They made sure we were ok, made us feel welcome and also gave us our space.
I loved every minute of my time there and would go back over and over again. I highly recommend.

They are wonderful hosts and have enough stories to fill a book! The staff were all great and we felt very spoilt indeed.
My advice would be to get advice directly from Mike and Sabine about whatever you wish to do locally since they know
Tiwi beach and its surroundings inside out and will put you in touch with locals you can trust and not have to worry about anything.
My group of six had a really good time here and all of us agreed that this was a place worth coming back to.

We enjoyed staying in Mike's and Sabine's place. Location itself is just amazing and this tent is one of
the most unique places we have ever stayed in.
In the grounds you can find monkeys and horses and the beach with a lot of starfishes is just right there,
so don't really need to go much further.

"As Good As It Gets. We were lucky to spend a month at Waterside Villa and it was nowhere near enough.
Aussiemike and Sabine are incredible people - it is worth traveling there simply to meet them.
They are genuinely the most interesting individuals we have had the pleasure of meeting and are
ultimately at the heart of the property's magic.
It is a hidden gem in Tiwi, situated along the South Kenyan Coast, a few miles from the Tanzanian border
and a rock’s throw from the neighbouring Diani Beach. Surrounded by lush equatorial vegetation,
ancient quarries and miles of pristine reef, these 25 acres of paradise are sure to enchant and enthral
even the most traveled. It is home to several animals, among them colobus & vervet monkeys,
two lovely horses, bush babies, and, of course, Sabine’s beautiful squirrels.
Refreshing coastal breezes blow in and create a soothing rustle among the trees, a treat as you stroll
through and around the property.
At high tide, if you sit at the sand patch near the cliff break, you can hear the waves lapping and
splashing against rock that has been intricately moulded by Indian Ocean tides for millions of years.
In the mornings, fishermen and fruit vendors pass by with their offerings, ranging from freshly caught
octopus and lobster to ripe mango and coconut.
The house in itself, Waterside Villa, is an architectural wonder built by no other than Mike and Sabine.
Its large, sprawling bedrooms and high ceilings create a sense of rustic grandiosity.
The walls are painted in natural, earthly tones and are complemented by lovely wooden furniture
constructed with incredible, native woods & obscure artisanal techniques (designed & made by Mike and Sabine, as well).
There is not a straight line in sight - organic curves soften the spaces and create a sense of circularity
that is in complete harmony with the house’s horseshoe design. There are several dining tables from
which to take your pick, all of which boast views of the horses strolling freely with the Indian Ocean and
of a wonderful pond as the backdrop. It could not get more majestic than that. The beds, couches and
divans are of extreme comfort - the only challenge they present is lifting yourself from their comfort.
TheThe pool is grand & spacious and at midday reflects dancing streaks of light up onto the palm fronds that surround it.
The staff on the property are incredible, many of which have been with Mike and Sabine for over a decade.
Alex, Daniel, Dorothy, Lavender, Lawrence, Mildred and Sila - thank you for always putting your
best forward and making our stay soothing beyond imagination.
Lavender cooks wonderful dishes, among them coconut rice, pineapple chicken, samosas and many more.
Lastly but certainly not least, the location, landscaping, architecture, furniture, staff, and anything else we
have described here are all a product of Aussiemike and Sabines passions and philosophies.
We had many fruitful dialogues, were inspired by fascinating stories and best of all laughed to tears and enjoyed their company.

“My husband and I stayed at the honeymoon tent and I wish I could buy the place.
The location is perfect even though it is about a 25 min drive to Diani.
We spent a day in Diani and did not feel the need to go back.
The location is beautiful, full of lush vegetation, animals, a beautiful semi-private beach, and private beach hut.
I never want to stay at a hotel again after staying there. It is levels above any resort.
The staff here are what made our experience unforgettable.
Getting a tour of Starfish village with Saed, who gave the location its name was such a fun time.
He is also very knowledgeable of sea life and made me wonder what he would do with more resources
and ability to study even more about sea turtles and other sea creatures.
What a treat to be guided by such a fun and knowledgeable person.
But my 5 stars without question go to Charles. Charles is the chef, which I HIGHLY recommend if you book a stay there.
He also looks after the space and does the grocery shopping for you, so you don’t even have to do it yourself.
We had plenty of outstanding meals in Kenya but none compared to Charles’ cooking.
If he was ever to open his own restaurant, I don’t think I could afford eating there as much as I’d want to.
Charles’ attention to detail, joyous personality, professional and humble demeanor
made us look forward to greeting him every day.
Charles gave us a Ritz-Carlton experience with a personal touch because he is so kind.

Diani beach is close if you need to go spend a day there or do some shopping.

“This was our BEST holiday ever. My husband and I arrived at Mombasa airport and a driver was
already waiting to transport us to Mike and Sabine’s place.
We were welcomed by them with a cup of honey ginger tea after Sabine showed us our luxury tent accommodation.

His cooking skills are comparable to the most upmarket restaurants in the world.

We also met Rusty, Sabine’s favorite squirrel. Sabine was great with organizing trips for us such as the
Pili Pipa Dhow trip were one can snorkel in the turquoise water of Wasini Island.
This is a must on the “to do list” in Tiwi Beach.
The second WOW moment was when Saidi took us to see the star fish island!!
What a wonderful experience. We were also fortunate to see the Colobuses from Mike and Sabine’s verandah!!!
And at night, the silence is golden with just the sound of the little frogs in the pond and of course
the bush babies in the trees and the sound of the sea in your ears.
If you want to totally relax and unwind, then Mike and Sabine’s place is for you.

We stayed for a few weeks at Tiwi with our family and absolutely enjoyed our stay!
The house and surroundings are like on the pictures. The staff is superbe!
There are some activities to do in walking distance to the house (rock pools, starfish island,
watching baby turtles hatch if in season,...).
Also, if you go to the left of the house through the gate, you have a beach for swimming.
The house is in a very quiet place embedded in nature with monkeys, bush babies, horses,...in the immediate surroundings.
If you want restaurants, bars, different beaches,...you can go into Diani by taxi
depending on the road and traffic, it takes a bit more or less time.

Charles, the chef/house keeper made us feel so indulged, well taken care of and very at home.

Make sure you provide a list of ingredients or collect them PRIOR you ARRIVAL.
We had Charles to shop for us and it was so much easier. However, if you have a car or prefer to shop yourselves,
the big town isn't far away, about 20mins drive.
They have a reliable fish supplier and we had fish and seafood from him EVERYDAY and it was amazing!
We didn't leave Tiwi the entire time we were there because there is so much to do during the day around the
property and the amazing beach.
We did go to Diani beach road to get some cash and had lunch at the sushi restaurant there and it was very very good.
Make sure you walk to the sandbar and walk along the reef to see a large collection of sea creatures!
We didn't get to swim in the African pool (a natural cave pool 20 mins walk away).
Would recommend to use a local guide (for very low fee) because they know the best spots for you to explore.
It was an such amazing time we had.
Only one downside is that the tent is much darker than what you see in the picture, everything else is accurate as listing.”

really spacious inside, and the bathroom and outdoor seating area are really nicely decorated.
The tent is set in the most peaceful garden - it is really secluded and you can sit and eat your breakfast
outside with a view of the monkeys in the morning. The private plunge pool is a great touch and makes the stay
feel even more special. Mike and Sabine are really great hosts, who go out of their way to make sure that you have
everything that you need. We really enjoyed our chats with them.
Whilst we took advantage of the chance to fully relax in this serene setting, we also did the Starfish nature tour with
Saidi which was a really great way to spend a couple of hours and learn about local conservation.
We must say that perhaps the highlight of our trip was being looked after by Charles -

cook for anyone who is staying at the tent in the future (the prawns masala and coconut curries are a must!).

“In six years of using Airbnb I’ve experienced a handful of magical accommodations, but nothing quite as special as Mike and Sabine’s compound.
Crafted like something Tolkien would lovingly invent, each of their homes embodies a soul that only the most thoughtful and interesting new pieces of architecture can.
We needed to arrive a day early, and Mike let us stay in a room in one of the villas — more expansive and luxurious than pictures can capture,
with sweeping rooms and a horizontal but very alive baobob tree out front. The tent, when we got to it the next day, was no less impressive.
An open deck with plushy couches for reading, drinking, or eating breakfast (prepared by their brilliant loaned chef) also admits
a regular troop of resident Vervet monkeys. Theatrical, joyful creatures, we almost missed the beach for watching them hang upside down
off palms, prattle at each other, and nurse their pink-faced, marble-eyed babies every morning. Beyond the porch is a tropical arboretum —
grounds so well landscaped you’d think you were in the jungle, until you realize it’s the jungle of imaginative films, not the dangerous wild.
Always close is the ocean, which is easily accessed and more easily observed from stunning chaises along the cliff.
Joining the monkeys are bushbabies and the occasional shy monitor, and always the happy company of Mike and Sabine themselves.
As hosts and conversationalists, they are as wonderful as their home. You’d be so lucky to stay here and meet them.

We were two families and we loved that it was actually two seperate buildings joined together with a common area and dining area.

So, for my 30th birthday, myself and 14 friends headed down and rented out both Waterside and Ocean Villa (they're on the same plot).
The place is just incredible, I can't recommend it enough.
I have lived in Kenya for two years, some of my friends have been in the country for seven years.
We all agree this is in the top 2-3 villa's that any of us have ever stayed in, and easily the best we've been to on the Kenyan coast.

This villa was absolutely amazing.
The architecture is stunning.
The villa is walking distance from the beach which is private and clean, Diani is a 15 minute drive which is convenient.
If you are looking for a quiet getaway this is the perfect place.
Mike and Sabina had great communication and the employees at the villa really looked after all our needs.

Mike and Sabine's Tiwi Beach House is truly beyond description.
Absolutely everything went perfectly, and you could not ask for a lovelier holiday home.
We spent our days shuttling between the glorious pool and the beach, which we had all to ourselves,

The bedrooms are all huge and beautifully done, and though we were only four,
the space is large enough that it could comfortably host quite a few more!

Vi hadde et fantastisk opphold på Tiwi Beach. Huset er helt annerledes enn noen andre steder vi har leid, og klarer å kombinere
luksus med en følelse av å leve tett på naturen på en utrolig måte. På soverommene oppe fikk man følelsen av å sove under
åpen himmel og det var virkelig flott å våkne til soloppgang og fuglekvitter. Litt uvant med saltvann i dusjen (og i bassenget),
men det ble fort en vane. Huset har ikke aircondition, men til tross for at det var 30-35C på dagtid ble det ikke for varmt og ingen
ble heller forkjølet. Det var også en befrielse å være uten internett i en hel uke (Det er mulig å få internett tilgang i
restauranten på nabo-hotellet om du skulle være desperat). Personalet ved huset var alltid på pletten og sørget for et uforglemmelig
og problemfritt opphold. Anbefaler særlig Peter's sjømat - nydelig :) Den flotte stranden ligger en 3-4 minutters gange unna, er
fri for "beach boys" og føltes veldig privat og trygg. Vi tok turen til Starfish Island, African Pool og Rock Pool i følge med en
lokal guide (alt i en radius av 15 minutter fra huset).
Dette kan absolutt anbefales. Vi var også på safari til Tsavo East med Southern Cross Safaris etter anbefalinger fra Mike.
Selv om kjøreturen ditt var lang (ca 5t hver vei) ble det en flott opplevelse.
I nærområdet til huset finner du ellers lite av interesse, og det var en stor kontrast å se hvordan den fattige lokalbefolkning
bodde i bølgeblekkskur og jordhytter mens vi levde i luksus på innsiden av gjerdet.
Alt i alt et flott opphold i et fantastisk hus!

The house was amazing and with the staff -Milred, Daniel and the chief Peter we had the best stay!! We ( group of nine )
landed in the middle of the night an Mike and Sabine arranged the transfer from airport and we had also asked them to help
so we had breakfast. The staff kept the house spotless and gave us service in a personal way and really did their best
to adapt to our needs. ( ex gluten intolerant, drank alot of coffe )We felt it was important to them to give us a good experiece.
We never missed out on anything. Peter made suggestions for meny - they also did the shopping for us.
He is an excellent cheif. We said yes to all he suggested. Fresh fish are deliverd to the house everyday and the meat we
had was good as well. One night we had lobsters - just great. When they helped us shop they did it in an economic way so
food total was good value. I believe that they adapt to the guests special wishes.. We were very intrested in all animals
and there were plenty around if you just had your eyes open ( bush -baby, mungo, small frogs and lizards etc).
From Mike and Sabine you will most likely get the best suggestions on were to go.
We had done some bookings in advance. I wish we would have gone for their advice in stead.
It had been better value and less problems. We also recommend to go to starfish place and natural pool with Sadie.
( just ask Sabine or Mike) We also rekommend - if you like massage and spa treatments to have Monique come to the house.
We enjoyed. We hope to come back ( and we understand that we have to book in time because it is a popular place)

Waterside Villa is unique.
The decor is fascinating - spacious rooms, all with inspiring details and beautiful furniture, designed by Sabine.
The location is magnificent, with a direct view of the Indian Ocean, and provides privacy, tranquility and total relaxation.
The staff were friendly, polite, helpful and efficient. The chef prepared meals equal to cuisine in a top class hotel.
Excellent security.
Beach and rock pools are a stone cast away.
Outings to various places of interest can be arranged through Mike and Sabine.

Here’s what Jamie wrote from AirBNB “What a place! Complete tropical, coastal paradise.
The villa was as gorgeous as the photos suggest, the beach was stunning (and very, very private), the pool was perfect. HUGE bedrooms and bathrooms.
The patio area was truly so gorgeous and relaxing with sitting areas on each side of the house.
Our family of 8 spent 5 days enjoying Tiwi beach and simply had to be drug away from the pool and villa to do any sightseeing in local Diani.
Why go sightseeing when you're already in paradise? Mike was a great host and was available for anything we needed but also gave us privacy.
He even happily arranged transport from the local airport for us!
The villa came with 3 staff (including a wonderful 5-star chef) who took care of every need we had, before we even asked.
The villa is technically self-catering, meaning you purchase and provide your own food items, but then all your meals are prepared by the villa chef.
Of course you're free to enter the kitchen as you wish and prepare anything you might want as well.
My only recommendation would be to provide guests with a grocery shopping list in advance of arrival that aligns with the chefs abilities.
He can cook anything with great skill... so we ended up making several trips to the market as he offered suggestions of meal plans and provided shopping lists for spices/ingredients.
Maybe a list with some of his signature meals and corresponding ingredient needs?
Had I known this in advance I could have spent more time in the pool and less time grocery shopping.
The fresh seafood delivered to the door was unbelievable and prepared to perfection! All in all, this place is spectacular and I can't wait to be back.
We all agreed we could have stayed forever! (also the gorgeous horses on site were an added bonus and so fun to watch graze) Thanks Mike and Sabine!”

but having no idea of how wonderful of a cook he was, kind of threw us off.
We originally brought pretty simple food items and jumped in the kitchen upon arrival to quickly slap some sandwiches together since we were hungry after traveling...
but i think that offended the chef and we made a bad first impression.
I just didn't quite understand that he was employed to cook all day for us and that he was a phenomenal cook. for example,
I told him we loved simple Kenyan food like sikuma wiki and chapati and he seemed to be frustrated at the suggestion.
Which makes sense when i realized he was a gourmet chef. hahah. anyway, i felt a little stupid and i think i made him feel a little frustrated.
We got it sorted of course, but having a document that gives an example of his range of meal ideas for a couple days and grocery lists to go with that, would be awesome!”

Firstly a huge thank you to both Sabina and Mike for their hospitality, helpfulness and all around pleasant company.
We were lucky enough to experience both the beautiful tented accommodation and the Ocean Villa near the beach.
Both had a completely tranquil atmosphere with both class and rustic charm.
The grounds are absolutely stunning and the views out to sea are glorious to awake to.
The Ocean Villas are perhaps more desirable should you wish to stay for a long time as they have a private pool and are much more spacious.
We took advantage of the chef Kassim who was good and were thrilled when informed we could order freshly caught fish/prawns etc for our meals.
Dorothy the head house keeper was always there when you needed her and was super helpful - as were all the staff onsite.
It was fantastic to be able to arrange outings through Sabina and Mike who gave us loads of helpful tips about where to go and what to do etc.
Some of our adventures included: Star Fish Island - a must see! -
The Colobus Conservation, reservations at Alibabours Cave - beautiful dining - and many more.
We would highly recommend either experience to anyone who wishes to have a private holiday in a luxurious yet natural environment.

We stayed in Mike and Sabine's tented cottage in August for 4 nights.
We travelled with 2 young children (5 and 3) and we had the most amazing time.
The tented cottage is perfect for a peaceful break.
The gardens are fantastically lush and provide the privacy we needed!
The cottage was as described in the photos and we were as comfortable as we could.
We also took advantage of the services of the chef, which I highly recommend!
We requested typical local foods, including fresh seafood, which were cooked to perfection and which we thoroughly enjoyed.
The maid was on hand to clean and help with any requests we had.
The small pool is at the bottom of the gardens, however, this was not an issue for us.
We also enjoyed the small beach which felt rather private as not many people used it.
Prior to our arrival, Mike also recommended a scenic route to get to the cottage, which was far more enjoyable than the normal highway.
In all, I would highly recommend the cottage.

The house is constructed only with local materials, very spacious and open, so one can hear the ocean in every room and enjoy a refreshing breeze.
Definitely worth to be mentioned, too, is the food prepared by the chef George (ask for the crab!!!) -
especially in the beginning and end the end we gave him a hard time with our limited supplies,
but he managed to make sth. delicious out of basically nothing.
So, if you get a chance to stay at this property, don't look any further and do it!!!

Absolutely fabulous
What a wonderful villa set in an expansive private property on the coast just south of Mombasa.
Our family of 5 adults and 4 children stayed at the Waterside Villa for a week while discovering the local surroundings and culture.
The setup of the villa was perfect for us with 4 large bedrooms and 3 deck areas around the swimming pool.
Before arrival we had asked Mike (the owner) to arrange the shopping which was perfect.
Every day our food was prepared by Dan, Daniel and Mildred.
Mildred also provided laundry facilities which allowed us to travel much lighter than normal.
Also we were able to return home without the huge amounts of dirty wash that usually ends the holiday!
Dan was always enthusiastic and willing to cook using as much locally sourced fish as possible.
He took great pleasure in the challenge of preparing a birthday cake for one of the children which was wonderful.
Internet is arranged using 3G dongles or sim cards which suited us perfectly.
The swimming pool was kept clean and was wonderful for the children.
Mike and all his staff have created a true sanctuary with attention to the smallest details paramount.
We also received excellent advice and tips to visit local workshops and a memorable safari together with Southern Cross Safaris.
We would definitely recommend the villa to everyone.

Wonderful Experience
Our group of two families stayed at Waterside Villas this last holiday season and had a great time.
We were 4 adults and 6 children and found the Villa to be wonderfully set up.
The villa is actually two similar units on either side of the pool with a great eating area and lounge overlooking the pool.
The setting is great on the coast and with a beach accessible right off the grounds.
The staff was very attentive and Daniel our chef did a fantastic job.
The fisherman came each day with squid, prawns, snapper etc.
Daniel prepared it based on our wishes, though his "swahili style" quickly became our favorite.
The indoor and outdoor spaces are both beautiful and comfortable and make for many great areas to read, play a game, chat a little, or take a nap.
THis was a great setup and would love to return. thanks for everything.

Some friends and I booked out this villa for a week in June.
It was the perfect place to relax, chill out, and a great base from which to explore Diani and the surrounding area.
Mike (the owner) is a gracious and accommodating host.
The staff were excellent and took great care of us.
Helpful, friendly, courteous and discreet.
The chef is excellent and worked wonders with all the ingredients we bought from the local supermarket.
The staff were also able to source fresh seafood from the local fishermen, which was delicious.
The villa design is unique and a creation of Mike's own imagination.
The rooms are all very spacious and comfortable.
The villa has lots of day beds scattered around the place, so you are never short of a place to crash out with a book and a nice cool drink.
The pool is the centre-piece of the property and has a split level design overlooking the gardens and the ocean.
From the villa, you can walk down to the beach but access is limited at high tide so bear this in mind.
We had a fantastic stay and wouldn't hesitate to come back or recommend to friends and family.

Definitely worth to be mentioned, too, is the food prepared by the chef George (ask for the crab!!!) -
especially in the beginning and end the end we gave him a hard time with our limited supplies,
but he managed to make sth. delicious out of basically nothing.
So, if you get a chance to stay at this property, don't look any further and do it!!!

The best place you could dream of! Better than the pictures, great folks and friendly helpful staff.
Location is perfect and the cheeky monkeys are a delight for the kids.

Wonderful Experience

Our group of two families stayed at Waterside Villas this last holiday season and had a great time.
We were 4 adults and 6 children and found the Villa to be wonderfully set up.
The villa is actually two similar units on either side of the pool with a great eating area and lounge overlooking the pool.
The setting is great on the coast and with a beach accessible right off the grounds.
staff was very attentive and Daniel our chef did a fantastic job.
The fisherman came each day with squid, prawns, snapper etc.
Daniel prepared it based on our wishes, though his "swahili style" quickly became our favorite. T
he indoor and outdoor spaces are both beautiful and comfortable and make for many great areas to read, play a game, chat a little, or take a nap.
THis was a great setup and would love to return. thanks for everything.

What can I say? Great hosts, stunning landscape, perfect ocean, tranquil cliff-side pool, amazing staff, lovely horses, funny monkeys, fantastic weather.
Looking forward to returning for some serenity and shenanigans.
This is one of those places where you wouldn't rather be anywhere else, yet wish you could have all of your best friends and family there with you.

Excellent villa - perfect place to relax

Some friends and I booked out this villa for a week in June.
It was the perfect place to relax, chill out, and a great base from which to explore Diani and the surrounding area.
Mike (the owner) is a gracious and accommodating host. The staff were excellent and took great care of us.
Helpful, friendly, courteous and discreet. The chef is excellent and worked wonders with all the ingredients we bought from the local supermarket.
The staff were also able to source fresh seafood from the local fishermen, which was delicious.
The villa design is unique and a creation of Mike's own imagination.
The rooms are all very spacious and comfortable.
The villa has lots of day beds scattered around the place, so you are never short of a place to crash out with a book and a nice cool drink.
The pool is the centre-piece of the property and has a split level design overlooking the gardens and the ocean.
From the villa, you can walk down to the beach but access is limited at high tide so bear this in mind.
We had a fantastic stay and wouldn't hesitate to come back or recommend to friends and family.
